Rental Terms
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Sydenham, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the chosen vehicle, is required and should be held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you must present valid identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are necessary, along with any other requirements detailed in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made on our website, via telephone, or directly at our Sydenham office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon picking up the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely by trusted payment providers.
4. Car Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damages will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of the rental; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle late. You are accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental period, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Policies
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Details about coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability. It's advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for extra insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges, impacting the overall cost of your rental.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-road driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within set passenger and weight limits. Traveling outside the agreed geographical areas requires proper authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Sydenham will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
